Overview

What is sEMG Biofeedback?

Muscles that stay tense for long periods, often without you realizing it, can contribute to tension headaches, jaw clenching, neck and shoulder pain, back pain and fatigue. Surface electromyography (sEMG) uses sensors placed on the skin over a muscle to measure its electrical activity, which rises and falls with muscle tension.

With sEMG biofeedback, you see that tension on a screen as it happens. You learn to recognize what a truly relaxed muscle feels like, to release tension that has become habitual, and to use muscles in a more balanced way during everyday movement. It can also help retrain muscle control after injury or surgery.
