Overview
What is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy is a form of photobiomodulation that uses visible red wavelengths. Red light is absorbed closer to the surface than near-infrared light, making it well suited to the skin, superficial muscles, joints and tissues just beneath the skin.
Like infrared PBM, red light is absorbed by the energy-producing mitochondria in your cells, which is thought to support tissue repair, circulation and a healthy inflammatory response. Red light therapy is frequently used to support recovery, superficial pain and skin health, and has been studied for eye conditions such as dry age-related macular degeneration.
