Overview

What is ISF / ILF / ISO?

Beneath the familiar brainwaves are extremely slow fluctuations in brain activity, cycling less than once every ten seconds. These infra-slow fluctuations (ISF), also described as infra-low frequency (ILF) or infra-slow oscillations (ISO), help coordinate large brain networks and are closely tied to your overall level of arousal, stress regulation and emotional balance.

These slow rhythms also influence faster brainwaves through a process called cross-frequency coupling: the slow wave sets the timing for when faster activity occurs, much like a conductor setting the tempo for an orchestra. By training at this foundational level, ISF/ILF/ISO neurofeedback aims to help your brain regulate itself more steadily across many functions.

How it works

Your treatment, step by step

  1. 01

    Assess

We review your brain map and symptoms to choose training locations.

  2. 02

    Tune

Training is adjusted session by session to the frequency where you feel most calm and regulated.

  3. 03

    Train

Feedback reflects your slow-wave activity, helping your brain settle into a steadier rhythm.

  4. 04

    Integrate

Often paired with HRV training or other neurofeedback for a complete plan.
