Overview
What is IR/NIR Photobiomodulation?
Photobiomodulation (PBM) is the use of specific wavelengths of light to influence how cells work. Infrared and near-infrared (NIR) light, just beyond what the eye can see, penetrate deeper into tissue than visible light, and can reach through the scalp and skull to the surface of the brain.
Inside cells, this light is absorbed by an enzyme in the mitochondria (cytochrome c oxidase) that is part of the energy-producing chain. The result is thought to be increased cellular energy (ATP), improved local blood flow and reduced inflammation. Transcranial and targeted PBM are being studied for brain health, recovery after injury, and pain. We use it as a complement to neurofeedback in a personalized plan.
How it works

-
01
Plan
We decide target areas based on your symptoms and brain map.
-
02
Position
A light-emitting device or headset is placed over the area.
-
03
Treat
Painless light exposure for a set time and dose.
